Joan is currently thePresident of the Konocti Unified School District Board of Trustees, President of Lakeshore Lioness of Clearlake, Member of 100+ Women, and served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Clearlake in the late 1980’s.
She has served on many committees for the City of Clearlake such as Lakeshore Design, Clearlake Marketing and Clearlake Economic Development. She also served as a Tourist Ambassador in the late 1980’s to the early 1990’s.
In 1995 Joan became involved with Konocti Unified School District and worked for the district until retirement in 2018 when she was elected onto the school board.
Joan’s father was a weekend Optometrist in Clearlake Highlands in the lates 1940’s until he closed his practice in 1977. Joan and her husband Bob purchased the property where his practice was located in 1980 while living in Florida. In 1983, during a bad turn in economics, they decided to come back to California and live Clearlake. Bob continued to work in the construction industry and Joan worked for Noble Realty. In the late 1980’s they started Shelley Graphics, Graphic Arts, Drafting and Copying Center. Bob is a Past President of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce and a past Board of Directors of the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce. Both Bob and Joan developed and published the Lake County Visitor Guide until selling it in 2004. Both were directly involved in establishing Measure P, ½ cent sales tax in Clearlake for police protection. Bob is a past City Councilman and Mayor of Clearlake.
